Occurs naturally in golden, sherry and pink tones; the rare orange-pink imperial topaz is the most valuable. Most blue topaz is colourless topaz treated to turn blue.

What to look for
- For imperial topaz, a warm orange to pink
- A clean, bright face
- Blue topaz is almost always irradiated and heated
CareHard but splits along one direction. Avoid knocks and ultrasonic cleaners.
